Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between yourself and a professional, whereby you will identify and work through obstacles in your life that have become disruptive to your daily functioning. Perhaps these issues have caused you suffering, impacted your ability to focus, caused you sleepless nights, or have somehow made their way into your relationships with others. Psychotherapy helps you to understand, work through, and resolve these difficulties. The result is reduction in symptoms, positive changes in your mindset and in life, and improved overall mental health and wellbeing.
Psychotherapy typically involves a combination of talking and deep listening, goal setting, problem solving, skills training, understanding the past, discovering and changing patterns in our behaviour, and letting go. Personal troubles a therapist can help you with include anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, identity, acceptance, body image issues, poor self-esteem, motivation, anger management, career orientation, interpersonal and communication skills, and many more.
Contact us today and we will discuss which of our professionals would be the best fit in helping you overcome your own personal struggle.
Couple & Family Therapy
Healthy and gratifying relationships constitute a major source of happiness and fulfillment in our lives. When we experience turmoil in the relationships we value the most, it can have a negative impact on our well-being and how we feel about ourselves. We may then face an even higher risk of further relational difficulties and mental health disturbances.
Couple and family therapy can help you address communication issues before they escalate, and repair relationship ruptures so that you can reconnect and improve the bonds with the people you care about most.
In general Couple and Family counselling can help with the following:
- Creating and sustaining healthier relationship dynamics
- Improving emotional security within a relationship
- Improving your ability to communicate with each other
- Becoming closer and more connected to your partner and/or loved ones
- Resolving couple/family conflicts
- Setting effective and clear boundaries with your partner or family members
Specifically, for couples:
- Addressing infidelity and related issues
- Premarital difficulties
- Marital challenges
Specifically for families
- Addressing family member relationships in the age of technology
- Fostering healthy communication patterns within the family
- Parenting concerns such as setting appropriate limits and boundaries
- Co-Parenting challenges
Close relationships with family and loved ones contribute greatly to our emotional wellbeing. If you are having relationship difficulties, we can help.
Adolescent Therapy
Adolescence represents a critical turning point in life. With puberty comes a slew of emotions that can impact the overall mental health of teenagers, and it can be challenging to navigate these feelings alone.
It is not uncommon for adolescents to experience mental health difficulties (anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and body image issues) or undergo drastic behavioural changes during this stage in their development. Today, adolescents are expected to understand and cope with issues that historically would not be deemed within the scope of their responsibilities. As such, many young adults and teenagers can benefit from pursuing therapy to help them adjust to changes with their friends, school lives, autonomy, parental relationships, body image, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sense of self.
At Evolution Psychology Clinic, we understand how difficult the transition from childhood to adulthood is. If you or your adolescent child is struggling, contact us today to schedule a consultation with one of our clinicians.

How it Works
Our licensed Career Counsellor will meet with you for an initial assessment to get to know you better, identify your specific reason for consulting and discuss counselling objectives.
Through a series of sessions, you will embark on a journey of self-exploration by identifying your interests, skills, values and personality type. It will help you better picture your career goals, understand your specific needs, and/or identify potential career options/educational programs.
Your counsellor may also recommend certain standardized tests or complementary activities to assist you.
LGBTQIA2S+ folx
Our gender identities and sexual orientation contribute to who we are, both in terms of how we view ourselves and how others perceive us. Although a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity may not be a source of distress, people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, 2-Spirit, or any other orientation or gender identity (+) may find that the social stigma refusing to conform to hetero-normative ideals is a source of stress and can affect their mental wellbeing. For example, LGBTQIA2S+ folx experience mental health disorders such as major depression and generalized anxiety disorder three times as often as the rest of the population. These issues are magnified if a person experiences other marginalized identities, as well.
Additionally, being queer can sometimes feel like an obstacle toward finding healthcare in and of itself. It is often difficult to find providers who are not only LGBTQIA2S+ literate and affirming, but who also have a strong understanding of the lived experiences of members of this community.
When seeking therapy, finding a mental health professional with such experience is essential to fostering a comfortable and productive therapeutic environment.
At Evolution Psychology Center, we acknowledge these challenges and are here to support you along your therapeutic journey. Not only do we welcome people of every background, but our clinicians’ expertise span a multitude of psychological disciplines, including those that are specifically geared toward promoting the welfare of clients who identify as members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
If you need mental health services from a professional with understanding and experience with LGBTQIA2S+ community, contact us. We can help.

What is the difference between life coaching and psychotherapy?
The major difference between psychotherapy and life coaching is the focus of the work. Psychotherapy focuses on mental health and emotional healing, while life coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals. In short – consider psychotherapy if you want to heal or get help with a mental health concern and life coaching if you need help getting “unstuck” or realizing a fuller potential.
Life coaching uses SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Based) goals and blueprints to get very specific about the details of an individual’s goals.
Life coaches do not diagnose or work with mental health disorders. Most people who begin life coaching are aware of their goals and are ready and motivated to take action in 12 weeks or less.
Art Therapy
Art therapy is a unique form of therapy that combines the benefits of traditional therapy with artistic expression. In art therapy, a trained and experienced therapist guides you through the process of creating art to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. The aim is not to create a masterpiece, but rather to use art as a tool for self-discovery and healing.
During a session, you’ll have the opportunity to use various artistic materials such as paint, clay or drawing tools to express yourself visually. The therapist will provide a safe, supportive environment in which you can freely explore your feelings and thoughts through your artwork. This process can help you to better understand your emotions, improve your self-awareness, reduce stress and promote personal development.
Art therapy is suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds, and you don’t need any previous artistic skills or experience to benefit. It is often used to treat a wide range of issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship problems. Our art therapist is trained to work with you in a collaborative and non-judgmental way, tailoring sessions to your individual needs and goals.
If you’d like to know more or make an appointment, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help you on your journey to greater well-being and self-discovery.
